Break the walls between us 🏰

This is a bittersweet comic strip by Tum Ulit (a popular Thai webcomic artist) that tells a short love story using the metaphor of “building walls” around someone’s heart. Here’s the full explanation, panel by panel:

A boy finds a huge, beautiful castle with tall walls and spikes.
→ He discovers a girl he likes, but she has very strong emotional defenses (“walls around her heart”).
The girl is seen building even higher brick walls around herself while the boy watches in confusion.
→ She keeps pushing people away and protecting herself more and more.
The boy looks sad, realizing he can’t get close to her.
Eventually she completely walls herself inside a tall brick box, arms crossed, looking lonely but safe.
The boy gives up and walks away, heartbroken.
Time passes. The boy is now happily dating someone else in the park.
The castle (her heart) is now in ruins, abandoned and crumbling.
From inside her self-made prison, she finally decides to peek out and lower her walls.
She reaches out her hand, trying to call him back.
But he has already moved on. She sees him happily holding hands with another girl.
She tears up, realizing it’s too late.
She looks at the yogurt drink and note the boy once left for her with the message:
“I’m so deeply sorry. Take your time, I’ll always be here for you. Love you.”
In the final panel, she lowers the last wall, but he’s already gone forever.
They share a yogurt drink happily… but only in her imagination now.

Moral / Message
When someone truly loves you and patiently waits outside your walls, don’t take too long to let them in. By the time you’re finally ready to open your heart, they might have already walked away and found happiness elsewhere. The walls you built to protect yourself end up becoming your prison, and the person who was willing to wait forever… eventually stops waiting.
It’s a gentle but painful reminder:
“Take your time to heal, but don’t take forever to love.”
